New Formula a Huge Disappointment

Very disappointed by the new formula...the old formula with SPF 20 was feather light and completely gentle. This new formula goes on heavy and greasy (strange for an oil free, oil absorbing product) and stings my skin and eyes (after sweating just a little.) Turns out the store where I got it does not accept returns, but the girl there said tons of people have been attempting to return it--saying they do not like the new formula.

Hi there, thank you for your review. This product was reformulated to meet certain requirements recently set in place by the FDA. The product now offers broad spectrum protection from ultraviolet (UV) rays and it has a higher SPF (as you've noted), so this may be why you noticed such a difference.

I prefer the old formula

This is far too thick and heavy and makes my oily skin even worse within an hour of using it. I really liked the old oil free matte block when it was spf 20 and part of the solar range. It used to have a really nice runny consistancy that kept my skin matte for longer. Il be returning this one.

Oil Free Matte SPF30 is a great product to use on your face because it’s super important to keep those harmful UV’s off your skin year-round. Be advised that you’re doing your skin a huge favor by protecting it for years to come.
This creamy lotion can be applied to your face whenever you want, but I prefer to use it in the morning. I find that it’s extremely effective in terms of keeping oil at bay, as well as keeping my face moisturized.
As with every single other Dermalogica product in this fabulous skin care line, you won’t be disappointed.

Not for sensitive skin!

I was given a sample of this to try on my oil, acne plus sensitive skin. During my first application in the morning, my skin didn't react and there were no problems whatsoever.
By the time I got back home from work and after I've taken my shower, my face was full of redness! I blame on this product as it made my face very itchy which caused major break outs. My face looked like that I've been suffering from rosacea. I will be sticking with my original Dermalogica routine. However, after five days of my discontinued use of this product, my skin is now calmed back to normal.

This is the best of the best. It protects well, but without the white residue, and doesn't make my skin break out. It feels light and smooth, not chalky or greasy, and the scent is very light. It was rated the best sunscreen for oil/acne-prone skin in a beauty magazine, and I now see why.

A Must Try

Glad i took a chance and tried this new product. It's very hard to find a facial lotion with spf 30 that doesn't leave a white caste or leave my skin extra oily. This glides smoothly onto my skin and absorbs into it without leaving any caste on my caramel complexion. It hasn't clogged my skin or broken me out. I have a strong sensitivity to smells/fragrances. This smells like licorice, which is better than the typical spf lotion smell. It hasn't irritated my eyes or sinuses, which was my biggest concern. I also get about 5-6 hours of matte coverage, which is excellent for me.

I was so hesitant about trying/using this product. I couldn't find any reviews. I'm very oily. I'm also extremely sensitive to smells. Strong smells/fragrances can cause me serious sinus irritation, headaches, teary eyes and even migraines. Most SPF lotions also seem to leave a white caste on my caramel complexion. I'm so happy that i have none of these problems with the Oil free matte spf30. I put it on after the clearing mattifier and a couple of drops of active moist. This lotion glides easily and smoothly onto my skin and leaves no caste at all. It smells like licorice, which is way better than the typical SPF smell. Most sunblocks also immediately left me extremely oily. I'm satisfied that I can go 5-6 hours with a matte finish on my naturally oily skin.

The silky smooth feeling of this lotion has an immediate refreshing effect that makes one feel like a Ferrari getting a turtle wax treatment. The best part of this lotion was that it lasts for most of the day. My skin felt matte and non oily from 9am until 7pm when I came home. The added UV protection is a unique addition since I don't know of any other matting lotion that is appropriate for a man that also has UV protection. This does it all and I even use it after shaving with no problems. It soothes my nicks and unlike other lotions does not result in pimples or blemishes. Great product!
